Pack Meeting This Sunday April 18th
The deadline to turn in achievements for this Sunday’s Pack Meeting is by the end of Thursday, April 15th. Please email Jim all completions of rank requirements or any of the sports belt loops discussed in our den meeting so they can be awarded at the Pack Meeting. Remember if you played on a sport team in the past year, the only remaining requirement is to explain the rules of the sport to an adult.
For those who missed the meeting, worksheets are available here:
Baseball – Basketball – Soccer – Hiking (Hiking completed at Den Meeting)
For those who attended Day Camp last summer, here is a copy of the Outdoor Activity Patch worksheet.
We will be practicing our fishing knots and casting at the Pack Meeting, so be sure to join us. The Pack will also have sign ups for the Fishing Trip (April 24), Family Camp (June 18-20), and Day Camp (July 19-23). Please be sure to bring your check for Family Camp.
Don’t forget to practice our “secret” yell! We need both Tigers and their parents to show their spirit. We are starting our Spring recruitment drive this Sunday as well. If your Tiger has friends who will be entering first through fifth grades next year and would be interested in joining the pack, feel free to invite them to our pack meeting.
See you Sunday!
Jim
Tigers Look Ahead to April
April is “Jungle Safari” month for the Tiger Den. We will start off with the scavenger hunt with the ferocious animals at the Santa Ana Zoo this Saturday, April 3rd at 9:15. Please be sure to get permissions slips to Naila Currie if your Tiger is going with another parent.
Easter vacation is a great time to catch up on the Rosary Patches. We will be finishing up the Sorrowful Mysteries and starting the Glorious Mysteries at our next den meeting. check the Parent Resource Page to download the patch summaries and coloring pages.
Our next den meeting will be on Sunday, April 11th at 11am. Check out the full agenda via the Tiger Den Page. Finally, don’t forget about the pack fishing trip on Saturday, April 24th.
If you haven’t visited the Photo Albums recently, you’ll find new pictures from our den hike as well as scout day at SAM (under Pack events).
Thank you to the super parents who have already signed up to help the den for the next year. For those who haven’t yet, you can now sign up directly on the website. Click on the “Parent Sign-Ups” button on the Tiger Den Page to complete your entry (note you must log in to access this page).
Wishing everyone a very blessed Easter!
Tigers Witness USS Dewey Commissioning
The Tiger Den and their guests witnessed the commissioning of the Navy’s newest warship in Seal Beach on March 6. The USS DEWEY DDG 105 is an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer. Guests listened to a variety of dignitaries, including the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen. After the commissioning, the Tigers walked the narrow hallways of the ship and saw the on-board medical clinic, mess hall, and command center. See the Tiger Albums for pictures of the outing.

Pack 811 Goes to the Olympics!
Well, maybe our Cub Scouts didn’t make it to Vancouver, but thanks to Tiger Scout Jackson’s aunt who brought her nephew’s Class-B shirt with her to the games, our pack was represented there. Check out these pictures of a Pack 811 shirt’s adventures in Canada!

Webelos Den Hike – Sunday, Feb 28th
The Cobra Den will have a den hike on Sunday, February 28th in the Aliso & Woods Canyons Wilderness Park near the Laguna Coast. We will be hiking to “dripping cave” and “cave rock”. The hike is 4.5 miles round-trip with only a few hundred feet of elevation gain/loss. Bring a snack so we can rest at dripping cave and enjoy some food before heading back. Note: If it rains that day or within 2 days prior, we will need to reschedule the hike as the trails are closed to prevent erosion.
Meet at the school lunch benches at 1pm that day. We will caravan to the parking location. Since parking is $3 per vehicle, we should carpool if possible. I expect us to return to the school by 5pm. Your family is welcome to join us.
A permission slip that you can find HERE will need to be filled out and returned to Cyndi or myself on, or by, the 28th. Also, please RSVP with how many are going. If you are dropping your son off with us and not going to hike with the group, please let me know this so I can arrange rides in the cars.
Wear comfortable tennis shoes, the scout uniform green T-shirt, and bring either a hat or sunscreen for the trail. Also, bring some water and a snack in a day pack. Lastly, bring the pocket knife and whittling chip card because we can.
Directions to trailhead:
Located in South Orange County, take the 5 frwy. to Alicia Parkway, head toward the ocean approximately 5 miles. The park entrance is located 100 yards south of Aliso Creek Road off Alicia Parkway in the City of Laguna Niguel.

The Wolves are Cookin!
Sunday, March 7th is our next outing for the Wolf Den. We will be meeting at the Lising Home after mass (about 11:15) and building cardboard ovens and grilling our own burgers. This is an idea that was shown at the leadership conference and WOW… are we excited to try this. We will also be making a cake in a dutch oven over real coals…. So the Brea Fire Dept will be on standby… hahaha just kidding!
Check out the plan here: http://cubpack811.org/library/Dens/Wolves/BoxOvenCooking.pdf
After lunch we will be playing video games and earning a belt loop for it…
We are asking for a $ 5.00 per scout donation for supplies and food. This can be paid that day.
See you then!
Roz and Christian

Rosary Series:
Those scouts that have finished the two Rosary Mysteries series we have been working on (The Joyful Mysteries and the Luminous Mysteries) will have a short review at the meeting with Mrs. Biederstadt. Click on the patches for the Summary and coloring pages.
Emergency Preparedness Award:
Those scouts that have finished the Emergency Preparedness Award requirements may turn in their sign off sheets. Remember that this also accomplishes Tiger Requirements 3f(a) and 3f(b).
Tiger Advancement:
A link to the achievement record can now be found on the Tiger Den Page. The password required to open the spreadsheets will be emailed to den families. Please be sure to email Jim R all accomplished achievements prior to Feb 16 in order for them to be awarded at the Blue and Gold luncheon. We have several scouts very close to earning their Tiger Badge, however, there is plenty of time after the Blue and Gold for all scouts to earn the badge.
