Scout-O-Rama is Coming!

WSOCC RamaHello Scout Families!

As Mr. Koos mentioned at our last pack meeting, Scout-O-Rama is coming up on May 10th, and Coupon Book Sales have officially begun!

What are Coupon Books?

This year, our local Portola district has created it’s own “Community Coupon Book” which is different than the rest of the Scouting districts in Orange County.  It contains over 50 coupons, and ALL of the coupons are for restaurants, stores, and other establishments in North Orange County! The use of 1 or 2 coupons will pay for the $10 book.   It really looks to be an easy sell this year.

Why should I sell these?

The proceeds from these books helps to pay for the camping properties that we use in Orange County, as well as help pay for our own pack program.  We are asking every Scout to sell at least one $10 book.  This is a minimal investment to help both our council camps and our pack, and the return on this investment is off the charts.

Of course, we encourage all scouts to sell more than their 1 required book.  Scouts will receive a raffle ticket for every 2 books they sell.  The raffle winner will receive a $30 Gift Card of their choice.  Scouts who sell at least 5 books will receive a $20 discount off of Summer Day Camp.  For every 15 books sold, the scout will receive a $20 gift card of their choice.

How can I sell them?

Every Scouting family can probably use 1 or 2 books themselves.  One of the tickets in the book is a family entrance pass to the Scout-O-Rama on May 10th.  They should also be an easy sell for the regular buyers – family, neighbors, and work associates.  You are also welcome to coordinate selling in front of a store or other establishment — just be sure to gain permission from the store before selling them.

We did make a reservation at Ralphs for a few days this week.  There are only 12 shifts available so far, but we are looking to add more.  They are first- come – first serve via this SIGNUP FORM.  (you will be notified if you made the cut).

How can I get some Books?

Mr. Koos will be distributing the books via den meetings, but scouts can arrange to pick up books in advance of the their meeting directly with him.  Those that are signed up to sell at Ralphs this week will be notified how to pick up their tickets.   All moneys for tickets must be turned in by the next pack meeting on April 27th.

Please contact Mr. Koos or Mr. Remley if any questions.  Please help us to pay back to the Scouting program in Orange County.

Thank you!

 Mr. Koos and Mr. Remley

It’s Scout-O-Rama Time!

Scout-O-Rama Ticket Sales @ Ralph’s Grocery Store – Friday March 18, 2011 and Saturday April 2, 2011

Mark your calendars for our pack’s other annual fundraiser, selling ticket /coupon books for the Orange County Council 2011 Scout-O-Rama. Pack 811 will be selling Scout-O-Rama tickets on Friday March 18th from 1:00–5:00 and Saturday April 2 from 10:00-2:00, in front of Ralph’s grocery store on Brea Blvd and Imperial Hwy.

Commissions from this sale go to support the activities, advancements and programs of local units and the Orange County Council, BSA. Our pack proceeds from the ticket sales (25%) help fund our pack program in general. Last year, the pack made over $600 from ticket sales.

We will sell ticket books for two days only. Individual scouts have the option of either working one or more 2-hour shift in front of Ralph’s or buying 6 ticket books to resell on their own. If the scout chooses the 2-hour shift, selling additional ticket books is completely optional.

The shifts on Friday will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The shifts on Saturday will be from 10 am to 12 noon and from 12 to 2 pm. Each shift needs to be covered by at least 8 scouts and two adults, so we will need some parent volunteers also.  PLEASE sign up as soon as possible so we can insure adequate coverage.

Scout-O-Rama

This year’s Scout-O-Rama will be held at Oak Canyon Park (5305 Santiago Canyon Drive, Silverado, CA 92676) on Saturday, May 14th, between the hours of 9 AM and 4 PM. This is a very fun event that everyone in the family can enjoy and participate in. I strongly recommend going to Scout-O-Rama with either your den, or as a family. If you are interested in going, you can purchase your admission ticket (good for entire family) when we sell them at Ralph’s or if you purchase a ticket book, it includes a family pass to the event.

What is Scout-O-Rama you may ask? Scout-O-Rama is the annual trade show of Scouting in Orange County that is attended by over 30,000 people. Scouts and their families enjoy a fun-filled day of exhibits, competitions, skits and displays. Some popular events from recent years include Dutch-oven cooking demonstrations, canoe races, water rocket launches and bicycle shows. Local packs, troops, teams and crews participate in the Scout-O-Rama event displaying a booth or giving service hours. Scouts will have the opportunity to earn belt loops and other achievements as well. Website: http://www.ocbsa.org/events/scout-o-rama/.

Scout-O-Rama Ticket Sales at Ralph’s was Very Successful

Thank you to again to everyone in the pack who helped sell Scout-O-Rama tickets at Ralph’s grocery store today and last Saturday. We sold 86 tickets today, and combined with the 91 tickets sold last week, we have sold a total of 177 tickets at Ralph’s. For both weekends, our pack had 25 scouts participate, and also a dozen parents help out.

All of you cubs should be very proud of yourselves for helping raise money for our upcoming service project. Thank you also to the parents who helped the boys today with their sales.  We also have several scouts selling tickets on their own, and this will help us even more. If any other scout desires to sell tickets on their own, please contact your Scout-O-Rama chair to make it happen.
