Stealth Ninjas Hike Chantry Flats

The Stealth Ninja Webelos Den spent a July Saturday morning exploring the flora and fauna of the Angeles National Forest. After a brief encounter with a brown bear, the den hiked to Sturtevant’s Falls and paused for a small snack and photos. Most scouts got a just a little wet crossing the many streams that crossed the trail, but otherwise did a great job of following the Leave No Trace principles. Photos of the event can be found in the Photo Albums.

Tigers Roam the Hills of Oak Canyon

The Tiger Den roared through Oak Canyon Nature Center last weekend.   The fearless group hiked high and low, enjoying the natural beauty of the canyon, and followed the leave-no-trace principles that they learned in their den meeting.  No animal or stick was harmed.  The boys did a great job of keeping a pace that even their parents could keep up with.  Check out more pictures of the fun afternoon in our photo albums.

Webelos I Hit the Trail in Remembrance of 9/11

Den 3 Memorial Hike on 9/11
On September 11, 2011, Pack 811’s Webelos I’s (Den 3) hit the train in remembrance of the those who made the ultimate sacrifice on this 10th Anniversary of 9/11.  The Webelos took on a portion of the Fullerton Trail and completed a 4.1 mile hike.  At the peak atop Summit House Ridge, we honored those with a prayer and remembrance from those who suffered during the 9/11 tragedy.

Wolves Hit the Trail

A dozen wolves and their families were spotted on the hills around the Oak Canyon Nature Center on Sunday afternoon.  The scouts held their den meeting in the canyon, learning a skit and planting vegetable seedlings for a home taco garden.   Following the meeting, the boys led their families on a grueling 2 mile hike up and around the canyon hills.   The scouts managed to keep their parents and siblings from falling in the running stream or getting too close to poison oak in the lush landscape.  With their 10 essentials on their backs, they came to the rescue of one sibling who scraped his hand, quickly administered first aid before continuing on.  A great time was had by all.

Check out pictures of the outing in the Wolf Photo Album.
