Pack Leader Awarded District Award

Our own Jim Root was recently honored at the annual Orange County Portola District Awards dinner that was held last Thursday evening.  Jim, our Religious Awards Coordinator for the past 4 years, received the districts “Extra Mile” award which is awarded to adult leaders who go out of their way to help whenever and wherever needed.  Jim has certainly answered the call whenever needed to make our program what it is today. Congratulations Jim!

The University of Scouting is a 1-day “crash course” for a variety of scouting leadership skills. This year it will be held on Saturday, March 3rd at Santa Ana College.  Over 100 courses will be offered, and you select which courses to take based upon your current or future position, or any interest you may have.  ALL leaders are highly encouraged to attend if you can.  This one day also counts the same as one year’s worth of roundtable meetings towards any leadership recognition knot.

Pack Committee Chair Honored

Our own Jim Remley was among this year’s recipients of the Bronze Pelican Award by the Catholic Committee on Scouting for the Diocese of Orange. Jim was awarded the distinguished honor on December 11, 2011, at the Marywood Center, following a mass celebrated by Bishop Tod Brown.
The Bronze Pelican is a diocesan recognition given to adults who have made a significant and outstanding contribution to the spiritual development of Catholic youth in the Boy Scouts of America. Recipients of the award must be exemplary adults and members in good standing in their respective positions in Scouting and in their faith communities.
Congratulations Jim, and thanks for everything you do for our Pack!
